It’s a Christmas monster episode! On this week’s (delayed) episode, the boys dive into the 2015 hidden gem, Krampus, and then try to chase it down with Ron Howard’s 123 million dollar middle finger to Dr. Seuss’s immortal classic, How The Grinch Stole Christmas. Nick receives hate mail for his hatred of this classic, Matt thinks someone is named Stevie in the movie Krampus, and Joey had faith in the Mario movie being made by Illumination? It was a wild ride this week for sure and we’re super sorry it’s coming to you a day late!

Jingle bells, Hallmark smells, David Steiman only ever directed one movie? Hello again avid listeners! To kick off our month of holiday cheer, we are starting with the underrated masterpiece, Santa Slay, and to chase it down, we watched Nick’s mom’s Hallmark classic, The Christmas Cottage! The boys discuss their favorite Christmas songs and recast The Christmas Cottage if Paul Thomas Anderson was directing it! Also cannibalism? Don’t miss it!

Happy cyber week, avid listeners! We hope you had a great and unproblematic Thanksgiving with your conservative relatives! Before we jump into our Christmas month, we watched two oddly profound movies for this week’s episode. To kick things off, we watched Terrence Malick’s neverending cycle, The Tree of Life. To chase down this Criterion piece, the boys endured The Lorax with surprisingly mixed reviews. We also remind Joey that Hoodwinked exists! Tune in now!

Gobble Gobble motherfucker and Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are so very thankful to have listeners like you who tolerate our random tangents and wildly hot takes. On our first ever Thanksgiving episode, we endure the $3500 catastrophe, Thankskilling, and we chase this down with a John Hughes classic, Planes Trains and Automobiles! We also discovered that Matt and Joey have never listened to the podcast nor do they know who JonBenét Ramsey is! Not sure how we got there, but what else do you expect from us at this point? Happy Thanksgiving friends!

Are you afraid of dying? You should be! Welcome back to the Shot and the Chaser! This week, the boys watched Gaspar Noe’s newest movie, Vortex, a movie that we watched in total silence. Then to chase it down, we watched the movie that put all Christian couples in a chokehold that faithful summer in 2004, The Notebook. Nicolas Sparks is a prick, Gaspar is king, and the boys discuss how Regal Cinema 12 is the worst establishment to see a movie!

We told a story a few weeks ago about when Nick told his wife that they were gonna watch Detective Pikachu but ended up showing her (and a group of people) Beyond the Black Rainbow. Traumatized, Molly requested that we rewatch Beyond the Black Rainbow for our shot and Detective Pikachu for the chaser! We could not think of a better challenge to find a correlation between these two wildly different movies, but dammit did we try. Nick has a contest involving a $25 gift card, Matt hates Bulbasaur, and Joey played a Christian version of Pokemon as a kid? Don’t miss it!

It’s November so Merry Christmas! On this week’s episode, the boys dive into the world of sentient automobiles because why not? For the shot, we have Leos Carax’s Holy Motors, a truly confusing anomaly that will make any arthouse film student tearfully whisper “cinema” to themselves. To chase this down, we ran to Disney+ to watch the 2005 vehicle (hehe) Herbie Fully Loaded! Which movie did we like more? The answer may shock you! Also, Nick’s dad hates Matt Dillon. Don’t miss it!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY! To wrap up Spooktober, we are covering an immaculate movie and a movie that may actually be the worst movie we’ve seen this year! For our shot, we are covering John Carpenter’s masterpiece, Halloween. And then we thought, what better way to conclude our horror series than with Halloween Ends… right? WRONG. Nick has a nervous breakdown, Matt drives everyone’s anxiety up about his final thoughts on Halloween Ends, and Joey gets a phone call from a coworker that thinks we’re too into movies. Merry Christmas!

Welcome to week 3 of spooky season! In this frightening installment, we do a deep dive into Andrzej Żuławski’s uncut 1981 masterpiece, Possession. We then chase it down with William Friedkin’s 1973 classic, The Exorcist! Joey was/is unsure how we viewed The Exorcist as the chaser, but it is what it is. We also discuss David O. Russell’s problematic directing as well as ponder if we actually will see Amsterdam in theaters or wait to be disappointed on a streaming platform. One more week until Halloween you ghouls!

Hello again die-hard listeners! To continue our month of terror and gore, we are on the topic of killer mothers. Our shot is Nicolas Pesce’s The Eyes of My Mother, a black and white film that gave Nick night terrors, and to chase this down, we watched the very first Friday the 13th movie. Some of us even watched the director’s cut in hopes of a deeper viewing experience. Also, fuck Kevin Bacon.
