HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYBODY! To wrap up Spooktober, we are covering an immaculate movie and a movie that may actually be the worst movie we’ve seen this year! For our shot, we are covering John Carpenter’s masterpiece, Halloween. And then we thought, what better way to conclude our horror series than with Halloween Ends… right? WRONG. Nick has a nervous breakdown, Matt drives everyone’s anxiety up about his final thoughts on Halloween Ends, and Joey gets a phone call from a coworker that thinks we’re too into movies. Merry Christmas!

Welcome to week 3 of spooky season! In this frightening installment, we do a deep dive into Andrzej Żuławski’s uncut 1981 masterpiece, Possession. We then chase it down with William Friedkin’s 1973 classic, The Exorcist! Joey was/is unsure how we viewed The Exorcist as the chaser, but it is what it is. We also discuss David O. Russell’s problematic directing as well as ponder if we actually will see Amsterdam in theaters or wait to be disappointed on a streaming platform. One more week until Halloween you ghouls!

Hello again die-hard listeners! To continue our month of terror and gore, we are on the topic of killer mothers. Our shot is Nicolas Pesce’s The Eyes of My Mother, a black and white film that gave Nick night terrors, and to chase this down, we watched the very first Friday the 13th movie. Some of us even watched the director’s cut in hopes of a deeper viewing experience. Also, fuck Kevin Bacon.

Happy spooky month you ghouls! To kick off our month of horror, we are on the topic of vampires, and what better way to start this than with the best vampire movie of all time and the worst vampire movie of all time! It’s up to you to decide which is which. We kick things off with Robert Bierman’s Vampire’s Kiss, a movie about a man (the king Nic Cage) who believes he is turning into a vampire. We chased this down with the cultural phenomenon, Twilight! Fun fact: the director of Twilight (Catherine Hardwicke) is also the Executive Producer for Don’t Worry Darling. Do with that what you will. We are also joined this evening by Matt’s wife, Hannah Burnside! Friend of the pod and Twilight saga advocate.

We also watch anime on this show! The boys are back again to discuss another trigger-heavy movie, Perfect Blue. Perfect Blue follows an ex-pop star entering the world of acting while being stalked by a mysterious man and being haunted by her former self. To chase this down, we watched one of the best anime “musicals” ever to grace the big screen, Belle! As a reminder, Belle received a 14-minute standing ovation at Cannes after its premier so if anyone on this podcast doesn’t like it, you have our permission to boo them and bully them on the internet. We also discuss sub vs dub of Belle’s musical numbers and Matt’s need for blood to make a movie perfect.

We are back to our regularly scheduled programming this week! Sorry to disappoint everyone who has loved hearing our voices for 2 hours every Wednesday, but this week we have quite the doozy for you guys. Getting into our Disney nostalgia feels, we embarked on a journey with the directorial debut AND only movie from Randy Moore, Escape from Tomorrow! This horror film is a legend in the world of guerrilla filmmaking and offers a somewhat Lynchian experience to the world of the Mouse. To chase this down, we watched the father/son commentary, The Goofy Movie! We also discuss how Joey hates Evil Dead 2 at great length so please excuse the length of this episode.

I promise we’re not gonna keep putting out two episodes a week, but we will this week! On our latest episode, the boys convinced Joey it was time to watch the Snyder Cut. Joey was hesitant due to his experience with the Whedon cut and really who could blame him? While it’s obvious that the Snyder Cut is the better movie, we discuss just how much of a better movie it is and how the WB intentionally set up the SnyderVerse to fail by handing it over to a Marvel director and renowned asshole, Joss Whedon. We also discuss a hot take about Avatar the Last Airbender!

Goooooooooood morning all 18 of you! On this fine Wednesday, we have a listener request (shout out to Willow and Chad) for a movie called Sleep. Sleep is the directorial debut for Michael Venus and a strong one at that. To chase it down, we took a trip down memory lane, put on our eyeliner and fingerless gloves, and watched Coraline! The boys also learn that Coraline was not a Tim Burton movie and we have been lying to ourselves for over a decade! Getting old is fun!

Wednesday Sep 07, 2022

SURPRISE! We’re dropping a second episode today where we discuss Gaspar Noe’s wildly controversial Irreversible and Noah Baumbach’s recent addition to the Criterion College, Marriage Story! We also discuss how Bullet Train is actually a well-executed love letter to Taoism!

Wednesday Sep 07, 2022

On this week’s episode, we get real horny with Dasha Nekrasova’s conspiratorial right-wing erotica, The Scary of Sixty-First and we chase it down with the Russo Brother’s dog shit waste of $200 million, The Gray Man! We also cover the night terrors we have been giving Joey as well as the plight of pedophile directors!
