Interstellar/Fantastic Planet - They're Both About Space

Imagine, if you will, a world where all you can eat is corn, and your only hope for survival was Matthew McConaughey. Or, just maybe, you’re the size of an ant and you’re being tortured by aliens while psychedelic rock just ominously played in the background for eternity. Like the sound of either or both? Then you’re gonna enjoy the next episode in our Nolantastic (wow) saga! For the shot, the boys went to Regal and saw Interstellar. To chase this down, we watched one of the few animated Criterion movies, Fantastic Planet. The boys saw Civil War, Nick’s got a YouTube series, Joey learns about the Halo campaign, and Matt has a great correlation on his own episode! Check it out!

The Dark Knight/Days of Heaven - I Am Not An Incel

Good evening, basement dwellers! Welcome to the first multi-episode series in The Shot & The Chaser podcast history: The Nolan Gauntlet (just made that up). To kick it off, we are watching The Dark Knight as our shot, and to chase it down we are breaking back into Terrence Malick’s filmography with Days of Heaven. The boys marathon the extended cuts of The Lord of the Rings, Matt discovers more Nyad drama,  Joey’s love for Malick intensifies, and Nick goes to a bachelor party! Strap in loyal audience, it’s gonna be a loooooooong couple of months in the Nolanverse (literally just came to me).

Real bummer here on the show this week. We just found out that anyone can be an artist? Tragic. On this week’s episode, the boys take on their first Orson Welles movie with F For Fake. To chase this down, we watch every Pacsun shopper’s favorite documentary, Exit Through the Gift Shop. We really are not the same people we were an episode ago! Nick finishes his Evangelion cut, Joey needs a Criterion box set, and Matt will continue to make art despite it possibly being ruined by this combo. Art has a class system! Find out about it now!

Twilight 1990/New Moon - Joey Chooses Jacob In The Year of Our Lord 2024

Yes Twilight! A request in having Molly and Hannah back on the show was that the soundboard be aggressively utilized during this episode and I think we did a good job of that. On this week’s episode, Nick picked the 1990 lost Hungarian film Twilight (bless you Arbelos for the 4K restoration), and to chase this down, we all watched New Moon because we thought it would be funny, but there’s nothing funny about true love I guess. How is your relationship with your father? On this week’s episode, the fellas dive into a movie that seemingly needs no introduction, Bicycle Thieves! Where is your honor?! Matt cooked up quite the combo this week with David Lowery’s The Green Knight and Tim Burton’s feature debut, Pee Wee’s Big Adventure. There are a lot more correlations than we had expected, but you’ll have to listen to find out. Additionally, the boys saw Dune Part 2 (multiple times) and have some spoiler free thoughts about it. Arrival/Cloverfield - The Conspiracy Theory Episode (WAKE UP SHEEPLE)

Are you ready for the invasion? Or do you think they’re already here? On this week’s episode, the boys watch Denis Villeneuve’s Arrival (god bless you king). To chase down this sci fi epic, Nick finally gets the fellas to watch what he considers the greatest piece of “found footage” media of all time, Cloverfield! Cinema is dead! On this weeks episode, the fellas began their journey into the filmography of late Peter Bogdanovich with The Last Picture Show. To chase this down, we then enter an entirely different (yet heartwarmingly similar) world of Last Action Hero. The Oscar watchlist is dwindling, Vladimir Putin is a villain, and will we see the end of the movie theater in our life time? Probably! The new episode is out now!
